Or maybe you’re just here because you’re wondering what on earth are you reading, right? Whatever it is, please continue reading.
As the person that love, I mean L.O.V.E, the beauty of thrift shopping, the list of reasons is easy. Thrift shopping is fun, can save the wallet, and satisfying.
Oh, wait! There’s actually more!
It doesn’t matter you are thrift shopping junkie or a total newbie. Let me share 5 solids reason why you should do thrift shopping from now onwards.
1. Fashion is the second most polluting industry after oil
Like it or not, this is the fact! Due to the rise of fast fashion, textile waste has become the mother earth’s another burden.
Some might ask, what is so bad with overproduction of clothes? Well, let’s start with the global warming effect.
Decomposing clothing releases methane, which is a harmful greenhouse gas and a significant contributor to global warming. A report by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation study found that fashion is now responsible for 10% of global carbon emissions!
Dyes and chemicals in fabrics also pose a problem, leaching into the soil and contaminating water sources. And then there’s the landfill space issue– where we’re totally lacking of it.
2. Too many clothes, and yet nothing to wear — sounds familiar?
Let’s be honest. How many of you bought a clothes and only wear once? Or even worse, didn’t even wear at all?
Aha, I see you smiling there!
There is just too many brand that produce too many clothing. An according to statistic, people now buy five times as much clothing they did in 1980. Which means… we got a lot, nope, A WAY LOTTT MORE clothes than we actually wear.
So instead buy a new one, why don’t we just buy preloved?
3. The 90s is back!
As the world is getting advanced, the fashion trend is going back to the 90s! But honestly– thank god they are back because to me, (90s baby), they never leave!
So where do you find the 90s fashion outfit if its not in the thrift shop right? I mean, the apparel in thrift shop is more vintage that gives you the classic feels.
All the baggy shirts, overall, the high waist skirts, ugh, is just so good to be back!
4. There’s a lot of hidden gems
One of the best things about thrift shopping is that there are always high quality clothes hidden in at least every nook and cranny.
Whether it’s an old Levi’s jean or authentic Louis Vuitton handbag, there is always a hidden gems made for everyone!
If you ever find yourself searching for items that have been discontinued, too, then thrift stores are your best bet.
Not only they have a variety of designer second-hand items, but they are also surprisingly cheap.
5. Clothes are more appreciated!
Have you ever heard of friends saying shopping is their exercise? Well, thrift shopping is a full-on workout!
Why? Because not only you spend a lot of time in a single store, you exert more energy sifting through dozens of racks and piles of clothes!
Though it is exhausting, you will truly value each item you’ve tirelessly sussed out– and some people say it is satisfying though. It’s like that giddy feeling you get after a satisfying shopping sesh – only twice as more!
Haven’t try thrift shopping? Well, I suggest you to try now!
